"18 Days in July" is a
fast moving dramatization of an actual event that brought mental illness
to the attention of the American people. George McGovern, veteran senator
from South Dakota, was the Democratic nominee for president in 1972. He
selected first term Senator Thomas Eagleton of Missouri as his vice
presidential running mate. Eagleton's dilemma and McGovern's agonizing
decision provide deeply moving insights to public attitudes and political
realities of that time. Five actors, 45 minutes. Riveting, funny and
informative.
